Recently, a partnership with Caetano Coatings has helped to develop new solutions that solve the challenges presented by the battery compartments for electric and autonomous vehicles.
The system consists of the use of different industrial processes and results in the application of three coatings to treat the surfaces of the boxes where the vehicle batteries are installed.
The first layer undergoes an electro-coat process that offers the outer hull a high level of protection against the effects of corrosion. This automated process results in high rates of return and cost efficiency, showing itself as a sustainable advantage.
In a second step, a layer of anti-static powder is applied, which provides an electromagnetic shield and prevents electrostatic discharge. It is an extremely advantageous solution, given that it is not necessary to use other layers of metals, which generate an increase in the final cost.
Finally, an anti-fire layer is applied to the internal and external surfaces of the compartment, completing the process. This solution, developed jointly between the two companies, is more advantageous and competitive than the alternatives currently employed by the industry, which use ceramics or pillows, because is not necessary to use other layers of metals which generate an increase in the final cost.
These low-cost innovations and exceptional functionality aim to fill the gaps that the automotive industry currently encounters with suppliers. Partnerships like this make the electric vehicle industry safer and more competitive.
